Pemphigus means bubble or blister in Greek. It is a kind of disease that creates eruptions in the skin. In the early days when diagnostic tests were not improved there was only one type of Pemphigus. Now with more advanced diagnostic tests Pemphigus is classified into five types. They are Pemphigus Vulgaris, Pemphigus vegetans, Pemphigus foliaceus, IgA Pemphigus, and Paraneoplastic Pemphigus. Nearly 70% of the cases of Pemphigus are Pemphigus Vulgaris.

Pemphigus Vulgaris is an autoimmune disease that is caused by autoantibodies that are directed towards the cell surfaces of the skin, keratinocytes. Our body produces antibodies that attack the foreign bodies that enter our system. In people with Pemphigus antibodies are produced targeting the skin surfaces and mucous membranes by mistake thus producing blisters on the skin surface. Pemphigus Vulgaris affects the skin and the mucous membranes. It is found that the autoantibodies are pathogenic. When the IgG autoantibodies bind to the cell surface, blisters or eruptions are caused. As a result of this binding cell to cell adhesion is affected causing inflammation or blisters on the surface. The skin cells on the surface are kept intact with the help of a protein called desmoglein that acts as glue between cells. This protein that acts as glue is attacked by the autoantibodies in people affected with Pemphigus. This causes the cells to separate allowing fluid to collect in between them causing blisters.

The agent that triggers Pemphigus in people is not certainly known. It might be due to a genetic disorder or triggered by the environment. Triggering of Pemphigus is rare by some of the medications taken by the patient. If it is triggered by any medication, then stopping that medication might put an end to Pemphigus. The good news is that it is not contagious. Hence you need not worry that it might spread to other people in your family or your dear ones. Pemphigus can affect any person. But it is found that people in rain forests of Brazil and those in the Mediterranean region, and East Europe are mostly affected by Pemphigus. In most of the people the onset of Pemphigus is found to be during the middle age and old age.

In some cases the blisters are so tense that they cause a split at the meeting point of the dermis and epidermis. Such blisters are thick and do not break on the surface. These are called Pemphigoid. Pemphigus is caused within the epidermis and is soft. For treating both of these types of blisters order canadian meds without rx.

In the case of Pemphigus Vulgaris, the starting point is mostly the mouth. the blisters are deep in the epidermis but they are soft. There are not scars formed after it is gone but you can have pigmented spots for a few months in the affected area. Pemphigus that has thick sores and is found in the groin and under arms is called Pemphigus vegetans. In the case of Pemphigus foliaceus blisters start in the scalp and face and spreads to chest and other areas of your body. The sores are not that much painful when compared to Pemphigus Vulgaris. Moist scales are found on the skin in the case of Pemphigus foliaceus. The IgA Pemphigus as the name implies, it is caused by the antibody IgA which is different from the other types of Pemphigus. Among all the Pemphigus the IgA Pemphigus is the least harmful. Just like the other Pemphigus it creates blisters and sometimes bumps with pus too. The Paraneoplastic Pemphigus is a rare type of Pemphigus that is caused in patients with cancer. It causes ulcers in the mouth and lips. The airways are also affected with this type of Pemphigus which might affect the lungs too. Paraneoplastic Pemphigus is not identifiable with normal tests that are done for other types of Pemphigus.
